Supported Independent Living

A home your supports can work in.

SIL funds the people who support your daily life — but the home around them decides how well that support works. We manage purpose-built, genuinely accessible homes suited to SIL arrangements, and we partner with registered SIL providers who deliver the supports. You bring your provider, or we introduce you to ours.

How it fits together

The house, the supports, and where we fit.

The home — us

Purpose-built accessible houses: level entry, accessible bathrooms, hoists in High Physical Support homes, support-worker space, and layouts designed for sharing well — private rooms with genuinely usable common areas.

The supports — your SIL provider

Daily supports are delivered by registered SIL providers under your plan. Bring the provider you already trust, or we'll introduce you to partner providers who know our homes well.

The match — made carefully

Housemate fit, location, sensory environment, support model — a SIL arrangement is a life decision, not a booking. Trial stays let you experience a comparable home before anything is signed.

For coordinators & providers

Vacancies without the vacancy problem.

Because our homes host managed short stays while long-term arrangements are found, a SIL vacancy with us is never a dark house — it's a furnished, maintained, active home your participant can actually visit and experience. Providers: if you have participants seeking SIL housing, or vacant homes of your own, that's a conversation we'd like to have.

FAQ

What is SIL, in plain terms?

Supported Independent Living is NDIS funding for the daily supports a person needs to live in their own home — help with personal care, cooking, household tasks and building skills. It funds the support, not the house itself; the home is arranged separately.

What's the difference between SIL and SDA?

SDA funds the specialist dwelling — the bricks and mortar built for high support needs. SIL funds the people who support you inside it. Many participants have both; some have SIL in a home that isn't SDA. They're separate parts of a plan.

Does National Accommodation deliver SIL supports?

No — and that's deliberate. We manage the homes; registered SIL providers deliver the daily supports. Your provider (or one of our partner providers) runs your support arrangement, and we make sure the home works perfectly around it.

Can I trial a home before committing to a SIL arrangement?

Often, yes — a funded short stay in a comparable home is the best audition there is. Fit issues surface in days rather than months, and a good match becomes a confident move.

General information only — not NDIS advice. SIL supports are delivered by registered providers under the participant's plan; National Accommodation manages the accommodation. Related reading: SDA design categories explained.
